Are there supposed to be any kind of rubber dust flap on the inner fender to seal the area around the control arms on an '82 El Camino? My older Chevelles have something like this, but this is my first G-body car and there is nothng there. Thanks!

I know what your talking about...had splash shields on my 66 Chevelle. I've never seen any on the Gbody though.

The cutlass' did and many gbodys did.I have to put mine back on. They're usually in terrible shape or missing.

Interesting...I've looked over alot of Gbody's in the last few years and can't say I've ever seen a set. There's 5 Cutlass in one wrecker here and 3 in another and none of them have them. Seems weird that they'd all be missing them.

I know the Malibu and Camino have a splash shield that ties in with the inner fender up front but it doesn't really cover the upper A arms like the old ones did...

These are the ones that go up front on a Malibu

Here's my two sense. I've been watching these stupid flaps on eBay for probably a year now. I too have never seen a car with them but apparently they're only on specific years, 1984 thru 1987. Whether that's true or not is beyond me but I can't imagine a company repopping something that never was.

By the same token, everybody loves this kind of stuff and it's always missing or crappy looking so I suppose a cottage industry could be created by making a part only one make and one model had. U B the judge. ...

The ones on my 78 El Camino fell apart years ago.(with the help of a alignment shop) I have been looking for some of these for a long time. They were attached to the inner fender well with staples and push pins. And kept water from splashing up into the engine compartment over the upper control arms.

My 83' had them still when I got the car unfortunately one alignmnet and now I am missing the passenger side. They do help keep a lot of road grime and dirt out.

That's them. I honestly believe they were on every 81-88 cutlass and probably many others, they were just so cheaply made that they fell apart over time and most commonly weren't put back on after repairs, such as alignment as mentioned. Had mine aligned, noticed a month later they were gone. Got another set, put them on and then had to take em off to put on headers and one broke. I've seen them on olds gbody wagons and such as well. The Malibu ones look much better made, wonder if they'd work on any gbody?
