heres a vid i recorded of my exhaust. they r true dual 2 1/4" that i got for free. i dunno what the mufflers are but they sound alright for now. i plan on getting a 2 1/2" mandrel bent system with a x pipe when i get some money but this will work for now.

NICE. i cannot wait to start building mine

ive been busy the last month so i really havent been on the site much and my 82 monte is still waiting on primer. today i picked up an 81 monte that was only located on the other side of town that had been sitting outside for almost 7 years for $100. the car is a 3.8 v6 and only has 52,000 miles on it. the interior is pretty rough but the outer body is fairly solid and has no visible holes. even the rear frame rails arnt that bad and could prolly be fixed. the floor pans are still fairly good and i have only found 1 hole in the passenger side floor which could easily be fixed. trunk floor is also mint with no holes. i plan on taking a few of the trim parts i need off of it and some other odds and ends but i dont know what i should do with it when im done with it.

82 monte Build Thread (lots of new pics)

started doing some of the prep work on the outer body on the weekend. got most of the paint all scuffed down and got rid of the pin stripe. my dad fixed the lower seems of the doors and did a good job. i had to fix my original doors cause it is almost impossible to find a good set of doors around here. my uncle is likley going to do most of the finishing work on the body and prime it since he's been working in a body shop since he was my age and is good at what he does. he did the paint on my dads 71 monte.

the driver side front fender was in pretty good shape just one hole behind the front wheel that that can be patched pretty easily

when i took these stick on plastic trim pieces off the rear valence of my 82 today i noticed that all the chrome type finish had bubbled up an peeled off. i was thinking of trying to re-cover them with some sort of stick on chrome if that was even possible or does anybody reproduce them and if so how much?

Hey the Monte is turning out great...and I was also looking for new plastic strips on the rear bumper for my '86. I had no luck finding them new but what I did was wrap them in chrome vinyl (automotive decal) grade. Cheap and easy until I find oem replacements. keep me posted on your progress.

thats what i figured would be the best way to go about it. the are a couple of grapphics stores in town so ill have to go see if i can get some chrome vinal to cover them. thanks for the info.

well not much has been getting acomplished as of lately on the monte. basically the car has been sanded down and some of the rough filler work has been done but thats it. im waiting on the guy who is going to do the body and paint to come back from holidays so theres not really much i can do till then. i know i want it to be painted dark blue but need to figure out a specific colour. i also want something with a bit of metallic in it aswell. ive seen a few new gm cars with a colour i liked but would like some sugestions if anyones got any. will be posting some new pics when the progress starts to move ahead.
