while im waiting on the bodywork and paint to start on the monte a figured i start looking through my basement to see what i have to do to get it ready. my original dash is cracked on the top but i got another one out of a 87 monte. unfortunatly it isnt the same colour and will need to be re painted or dyed. i also noticed that alot of the other plastic parts are faded pretty bad and will need to be re painted. first i prolly need to know what colour the interior is in my car so i can get it matched. its a dark blue and i remember someone telling me it was called shadow blue but im not sure. when we were working on my dads 71 monte we went to the local car quest and they matched my dads interior colour and mixed up a spay bomb. we only used it on the hard plastic pieces but it seems to be holding up great. will this work on my dash? if anybody could give me an idea on what to do it would help alot. hears a pic of the original dash and new dash to give you an idea of what colour it is.

Looks like it turned out pretty nice! Even looks like the same color as I did my son's 81 Malibu plastics and dash with.

I noticed on the metal trim for the front of the headliner you have some broken clips. I've got a few extras if you need some. How are the seat belts? Faded at all? The reason I ask is that there's an 84 Cutlass here with some decent blue belts in it here. Good time to change em out if they need it.

ya the stuff worked really well. it seems to match perfect and it bites right into the plasic and vinal. the seat belts prolly just need a real good cleaning. thanks for pointing out the broken clips ill try and get some off the 81 monte i got.

You may know this already but when you do go for the ones in the other Monte....

just start the trim down and while it's still hanging from the clips, so to speak, take a small straight screwdriver and push in on the center where the tab is on the clips. That should help release it from the slot in the roof. Works for me anyway.

painted up the other dash and i decided to put it together to se how it looks. i eliminated the woodgrain and painted it black with a blue pin stripe that i painted by hand. also did the console woodgrain the same. the holes in the ash tray door were put there by the previous owner andare for the temp and oil pressure gauges. i think ill put them back there cause i think it looks fine and i dont smoke anyway lol.

looks good. Kicking my *ss now that I didn't re-paint the plastics on my car when I had the carpets out. Where did you get the vinyl paint ??

There is a guy in Mississauga with a complete Blue Monte Buckets and Console Interior for cheap ( $ 100.00 bux I think ) if you need some parts.

i got the paint mixed up at a car quest near me. the paint is maid by SEM. the interior parts i need still is a carpet, headliner, package tray and some seat covers for the front buckets. my car originaly came with a split bench and which was replaced with buckets and a console before i got the car. im not sure if the buckets are from the same year of monte though. they have a built in head rest and hard plastc cover on the back which im missing.
