'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Blake,
I would've opted to keep the slots on there. I think it's part of the character of your car and sets it apart from other Cutlass Cruisers. That's just my opinion.

Blake, thanks for the flashback. I did a search and found where in the thread you filled the roof rack holes. I would like to do this to my wagon as well, but I am not ready for that much commitment paint-wise. So I bookmarked that page for future reference. Hard to believe that was six years ago.

I am curious to see the replacements for the jellybeans...

It is hard to believe that was 6 years ago!
If perfection is your goal, don't glue them like I did...
Eyes that know where/how to look can see all 8 little rings where the rack once mounted.

Not only have I seen more cars with slots lately, I've even seen a few Cutlass wagons online with them!
I do love them, but the reality is that they don't fit correctly and I'm tired of the rubbing...
With 3.25" of back spacing, they look awesome as far as where they place the wheel in the opening...
But even with stock sized (215/65R15) tires up front, I'm catching the wheel wells when I pull into a driveway.

The new hoops will finally solve my spacing issues to the point that I can actually go back to wider tires if I choose...
I think you guys will like the new look!

New wheels are on their way!
Before making my final selection, I had to sort thru the potential candidates...
My only real criteria was that they be available in 15x7 and 15x8.
See if you can guess which one I picked...

I'm guessing you went with choice #5....Olds 442 chrome rallye wheels. I think those would be an excellent choice for your car. Although, I've always liked the traditional American Torque thrust wheels, being an old school kinda guy.

I'm gonna drag this out just for fun lol

Not too long ago, I almost pulled the trigger on a set of NOS 442 wheels...
The plan would have been to put the NOS set on the 442 and the ones I took off would go to the wagon.
The chrome/gold would have looked great, but the wagon deserves nicer than the 442's rusty take-offs...
I heard a lot of mixed reviews of the 'new' SSIII's from Wheel Vintiques and I believe they are no longer available for a reason...
Alas, with the rarity that they show up for sale in the condition worthy of putting on the wagon, I did not pick the SSIII's.

My choice would be the keystone classics. A great retro look.

The Torque Thrust actually has the best selection of sizes, and is by far the cheapest...
But not the look I'm after...

Honestly, I didn't consider the Vectors at all lol
