'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Blake,
Having the right tools and know how is key. It took me hours to cut out my windshield and quarter windows. It was a bear of a job.

Jim,
Thanks for tip using 12 awg ground leads for my tailgate, etc. I don't have power windows, so it would be just for the tailgate hatch release. It allowed me more time to hit the tailgate inner panel with SEM texture coat and repaint the panel with color coat.

Indeed!
I haven't taken a urethane set windshield out since I was in school.
Done plenty of encapsulated rubber gasket windshields, but I just never had to cut out a glued one...
I actually got the wild hair a few weeks ago to give it a shot during one of my many fits of distraction.
Made it about 6 inches and decided to stick with my plan of having it done. Worth every penny!

Spent some time this afternoon cutting out the excess urethane left in the window openings.
The rest should clean up nicely...

All masked up and ready to start making a mess again!
First on the list is priming the tailgate and rear gate jamb.
Then I'll clean up the 1/4 window area, repair a couple spots and weld the trim clip studs in place...

Solid progress Blake, I am falling behind!

I'm still figuring everything out too!
I had a pretty rough pair, but I think I threw them out when I got my nice new ones...

Got some primer sprayed on the rear gate opening, the tail gate jamb, and header panel.
I'll get everything scuffed and seam-sealed before throwing the gate back on.

Blake, Glad to see that the cold weather is not hindering your progress. Moving right along.

Looking great!

Jack, it's actually been a pretty tolerable winter so far...
We aren't getting pounded this year like the north east is!

It was absolutely gorgeous out yesterday when I was priming.
40* and sunny with almost no wind... in early February!
