'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Got the two drivers side doors stripped on Thursday.

Today I got all of the holes on the doors and fenders welded up and ground down.
Have a 4-day weekend ahead so hopefully I can get some hours in...

Got the filler work on the doors mostly finished on Thursday and Saturday.
A few tiny dings left that I want to give a wipe and the area at the front of the drivers door needs a little more attention, but it's close...

Been messing around with stripping the rear gate jambs...
Got all the dried up old seam sealer out. Little bit more prepping left to get it ready for primer.

Here's how she's sitting at the moment...
Need to order up a bunch of materials so I can make it look like I've actually been doing something for the past six months

It's lookin' good, Blake.
You have been making serious progress , despite your claims of slacking.. 🙂

Does your car have the rear hatch release solenoid?

Thanks, Jack!
I really do **** off a lot while I'm out there though...
I have terrible ADD, so sometimes it takes a little while longer to get the ball rolling.
That, and the "herbal enhancements" don't always help...
On the plus side, with gas down to $2 it's not emptying my wallet as badly to make the 80 mile round trip 3 days a week!

No remote hatch release for me... This wagon is a pretty low option car.
Hopefully you can get yours sorted and working properly.

Time for me to spend some money...

You gotta be careful about those "herbal enhancements", they can certainly screw with the productivity factor....
Ask me how I know... ..although, that phase of my life is behind me.

An 80 mile round trip is a good distance to have to travel several times a week, but on the plus side, it's sheltered from the elements.

Yeah, the remote latch thing has good me temporarily stumped. My friend suggests trying to provide a better ground for the solenoid and check the voltage being sent to the unit. It does kinda make some sense. The tailgate is pretty much grounded thru the hinges, which has paint and lube on 'em. It's worth a shot.
It's not really that important, but it would be nice if it worked properly. I could then put the tailgate panel back on.

Keep the progress going. It's lookin' really good. Before you know it, it's all primed and is on the final stages for color.

Just dropped a bunch of cash on some sealer, surfacer, sand paper and a few more stripper wheels...
I'll finish up prepping the jambs for the rear gate, and once my stuff shows up I can get primer on it and put the tailgate back on.
Then I'll pull the doors off and prep/prime the body and doors...

Looking good Blake. I am in the same bought as you with the ADD, A lot of time I end up doing 12oz curls and nothing really gets done. Gas in New Jersey is $1.89/gal. (still $2.19 in PA) I can't remember when it was this low.

Jack, on my wagon I added a 12awg ground lead to each door and the tailgate, to get away from the car using the hinged as grounds. Easy enough to since my door panels and all are obviously off.

Pulled the heater box out this morning waiting for the glass guy to show up.
Only took like 10 minutes so I ended up standing around for a bit.
It took him 30 minutes to cut out all 3 windows... Would've taken me hours!

My supplies I ordered showed up yesterday so now I can get cracking!
