You guys would know more about this than me,,,but.. No cruise control,, and a vac ball on the driver side at the firewall ? Isn't that 84 and up ? Unless they've been replaced ,,i cant see the indentations on the upper door panels above the pull strap...
The OP could also ck the for the pink ends on the trunk spring rod or the "factory dented " mufflers if the exhaust hasn't been replaced..
but ,,the VIN without a 9,,says not a H/O,,,like you all said ..would like to see the cowl tag

From what I understand about 83 H/O's, if the car has cruise, the vac ball is hidden up front. If it does not, it's right where the pic shows it. I have a vac ball diagram somewhere but I can't seem to find it right now. Shows when a car does have cruise and when it doesn't where those lines and stuff mount.

For all intents and purposes, it is my opinion (which is worth $0) that the car is a re-VIN on an 83 H/O. Like you say, would be interested in the cowl tag and maybe engine/trans partial VINs.

Like you said,,, he needs to look at block and transmission #'s...The rest of a vin from an H/O could be figured out from that if its an H/O..You know its goimg to be 1G3AK479_DMXXXXXX

Like the others said

Car can be a Hurst but the VIN can be from a different car

Cruise control is all there except for the diaphragm, speedo cables and transducer... looks like someone gutted them. Has a cruise wand and all the cruise wire/vacuum harness still. Non-cruise cars didn't have that stuff

It has the original OZ transmission. Which to my knowledge is the special model only for the H/O. It also has the 5A heads. I am unable to find the cowl tag and the driver door tag looks like all rubbed off. These are not the same cars to the one stolen from Chicago as i can barely see the tip of the exhaust on the stolen one and it looks silver and new. The exhaust when i bought this car was brown rusted, and full of holes and has since been replaced. But having that kickdown switch for the AC shut off makes me assume its an original that was revined. as why would someone install an AC switch, such a minor thing. Also i notice a radio in the stolen car, somewhere under the passenger side glovebox. That is a good place to put it gives me many ideas haha. But my car does not have that or any proof of damage to that area. The car was also purchused from Detroit so. one could only wonder where its been. And yes the car has cruise control, but it is nonworking.

also one half of the car has been repainted as it has newer stripes and the hurst olds lettering is slightly different as you can see the parts that were painted over. Makes me think it was in a crash and that in turn caused the vin to be changed to avoid insurance or something
