Mark Remmel(Cutlassefi), Olds parts and engine builder, Joe Vitek and Dan Mascal(Dr. Dan) are all Olds guys down in Florida.
Ok awesome. Thanks for your helpNo, the .060" oversized pistons are needed to fix your 307. You don't want the cheap cast pistons in a 350, only the 24cc dish pistons are available, they give very low compression. Good forged pistons cost 3 times as much, Speedpro forged 350 pistons, twice as much as those 307 pistons I linked. Your 307 is fine for a cruiser. Get it bored and honed for .060" oversized pistons, cleanup mill on the deck, balanced and the crank checked for proper clearances. A cam upgrade like this will help performance a bit.https://www.summitracing.com/parts/lun-10420211/make/oldsmobile
It depends how much more power you want.
so I've heard. i think whoever did the rebuild (based on my knowledge of who had the car, and it having hydraulics, and alot of other ghetto rigged nonsense i found) either did a crap job like was mentioned here, or something didnt match, or he didnt break it in.The 307 is a fine cruising motor, usually very reliable.
Which is why I refuse to buy them. 😛Shows how reman engines turn out a lot of the time.
