Lookin good! Youll love those r&m looms, I have them on my olds. They really clean things up.

yep the only diff is mine are the vertical version, i got the idea from you lol thanks man

So i hate the color of my vc's they look brown in good light, so the plan will be to sand blast the vc's, air cleaner assy, headers and eventually the accessory brackets n pullies

The paint is a black metallic from rustolem 600 deg looks kinda charcoal gray in the pics tho. If i wanted to go crazy I could've blasted and used filler on the vc's but this was more of a test to see how much I like em. I think I will do the same to the air cleaner assembly and then run dual flex for the snorkels. Whatcha think about these guys???

One of the things I did was had all my brackets powder coated and then I went to a salvage yard and picked up another set of brackets and had them chromed that way I could mix and match. Looks like your on the right path take your time another thing you might want to consider is replacing the light bulbs in the instrument cluster with leds they work great and provide better lighting for the gauges. If you ever have any questions feel free to contact me trust me I made plenty of mistakes.

Thanks Jim, yea I plan to use the hyper white multi leds, powder coating or hi-temp paint are gonna be the way to go for me, I cant see myself cleaning chrome all the time lol

So I had a minor set back, looks like my block is goin in the machine shop, cam bearings are a lil worn, and if that's happening I may as well get it bored and have some nice flat tops installed right. Sounds like a great f'n idea to me.

Re: 84 Hurst/Olds New Project - TROUBLED

So that minor setback just became a major set back, machinist informs me that my block is cracked and it would be a good idea to find a replacement. So back to the drawing board I go. I need to find another friggin motor, like I need another motor taking up garage space. As we all know I have fully rebuilt Stockish #5 Heads, CompCams XE262H, 7111 Intake, Heddman long tubes, 8.5 Posi 3.73's. So which motor do I choose to fully rebuild? 350 or 403 which ever one it ends up being most likely get forged flat tops. Help me out fellas. Thanks in advance.

Flat tops are no good on a 403 with #5 heads, unless you want 11 to 1 compression. Now a stock piston re ring or cast dish replacement pistons yield 9 to 1. Of course your block will need decking with cast replacement pistons, due to the shorter compression height, to reach 9 to 1.

86-blk442 I cant seem to locate one right now, I saw one for 350 but im weary abt buying another bad motor that seem good.

I'd love to get to 10:1 if possible, I run 93 pump gas anyways. Maybe some KB +6cc Dished pistons will be the trick
