You need the basic cast pistons, unless you want 11 to 1. The KB 6 cc dish isn't big enough with #5 heads. The factory or replacement pistons are 18-21cc. Get the deep dish replacements in. 020" oversize.

Yep those are the ones my builder chose, the final price is gonna be about $1620. (KB sivolite) That price isnt too bad but if I went into this build being cheap I woulda been burned a long time ago. Magnaflux, bore, all bearings, freeze plugs, rods redone, heads drilled and tapped, rocker arm kit installed, arp head and intake bolts, everything assembled for $1620. How does that sound? The only thing im worried abt is my cam being to small for the CR, thats why im gonna buy the two peice timing cover in case an upgrade is needed.

That sounds pretty good. Beeterolds on here ran that cam in a 9.8? to 1 403. That cam has decent duration, you should be under 9.5 to 1, you should be fine.

Yep that's about where my calculations were at. Beeterolds 403 seemed pretty damn good on the youtube vids.

So my motor is still at the machine shop which is fine by me because after lots of thinking I want this to be more of a frame off resto-mod anyways. So in order for me to do that I'm now in the need of a daily driver, since I hate my camaro and I've blown up the third transmission the 355sbc is coming out and going into the rolling chassis I just picked up. So all the cast offs from the hurst will go into the 83 Regal i got from Warmonga, new build thread coming soon.

Re: 84 Hurst/Olds RestoMod Project

I think I will paint it satin low gloss black and leave the Intake natural silver. Question will my stock olds script valve covers fit over the roller rockers or do I have to buy tall valve covers?

When I get it home I'm gonna grind down all the casting flashes and make it all smooth and purty for paint. I should have plenty of time to figure out a good place to ceramic coat my headers, it has to be a coating that will last way longer than the ones from the stores ya know.

The stock valve covers should fit over the rollers. I had basically stock edelbrock covers on mine before I switched to the M/T covers which aren't very tall either.

Btw looks good! Bet you can't wait to get it home!
