Cool almost fact- maybe- on Leap Year H/Os: It is suspected that at least some of those weird ones converted on Leap Year were made with black hood scoops and/or wings from Cars and Concepts. Judy Badgley and I were talking about that possibility a few years back. It seemed as if there were a handful of examples randomly show up and they were Leap Year cars. Nobody or nothing has been found to absolutely verify this suspicion, but random H/Os for sale with black scoops, etc., were found in various spots in the country. Don't know if that was a goof or co-winky-dink or how that transpired. Might be something, might be nothing.
Mine were both silver...nothing different.

Were Vin Y 800 cfm castings? ... nearly every mid 70's till mid 80's carb up here had CV secondary rods when I got them.
I will check on the casting of the vin Y.

CV secondary rods are excellent all around. The profile is almost exactly that of the rare AU used in late 60s/early 70s muscle. Also approximated by the CK rods.

Do you know what the EL secondary rods measure? Strange they are not on the online lists. There must have been timing and metering dwell differences between Vin Y and 9 in the ECM or why have different numbers for the ECM's? Weird to have different part numbers with just a secondary rod change but if one is 800 cfm and the other 750, I can see it.

I have a stock 85 442 original carb on the shelf (simply a restamped 84 H/O carb) and the secondary hanger is an "N". That I do recall. I have taken them apart but re-used the rods and stuff so never thought to check them. I might yank them out and check them.

The metering rod/jet kit according to the parts manual is different between a Y and a 9, but how so, I do not know for sure. Just lists it as rod/jet kit and a part number. Assuming primary because secondary jets aren't removable. They mostly didn't sell Qjet parts separately to that detail at GM to buy separate jets and rods per application for the G-bodies. You could obviously order parts via ACDelco/GM numbers of course from the Delco books. But the typical body style parts book wasn't much hope. I don't have a Delco parts book so I cannot find anything on that. You usually bought kitted parts for crap like that. Not always, but for rods/jets it seemed so. Some you couldn't even get unless you bought the whole carb.

There can't be a whole lot of differences between the VIN Y and VIN 9 calibrations. The ECM boxes are exactly the same part numbers. The prom is different. I recall some folks were trying to "reverse engineer" the Proms to figure out what was on the insides. Each year Prom has it's own code due to EPA tracking regs I'm sure, but I have my doubts any of the VIN 9 Proms from 83-85 were any different in the specs.

My suspicion is just a spark curve difference. VIN 9 Prom maybe adds a few degrees of timing at WOT, and that's about it. I wouldn't think it would change anything on the fuel circuit as I believe the dwell and all that is the same specs as the Y engines. With that said, I don't think the VIN 9 Prom is a panacea for any 307. But it's specific enough to matter to be matched up with the slightly more aggressive fuel and cam setups for the H/O and 442 versions.

I cleaned up the floor a bit today and got a better look.

Since its not totally gone and I am not going for a full restoration I decided to wirebrush and paint just to slow the rot a bit.

There are two holes, one medium size and the other quite small. I will likely just cover them with some fiberglass mat and resin for the time being. When it comes time for a full resto, the floor will be replaced.

I am itching to get this car on the road and drive this summer!

finding someone who has in stock some headliner material close to original has been very difficult. Ill probably end up with burgundy or claret or something...all I am looking for is a yard for cryin out loud

I found a shorter oil filter that I think will fit above the headers. I will post the numbers once I am sure it will fit.

I usually use the Hastings LF222 or Wix 51258/Napa 1258. The Mobil 1 307 replacement filter is about the shortest I have found but being a 307 filter it isn't as big around as the Wix or Hastings filters I mentioned. Sucks that headliner material is so hard to find.

What headers did you get?
