I have a 1984 monte carlo, and I wanna catch it on fire..... man ictell you I replace the battery and starter and ignition switch on the lower column and all I get is a click.... no start.... could it be that I positioned it in the wrong position, I need this car to start running... sumone please help...

is it a click or a clunk?...have you ever had that engine running and does it turn over by hand? If it does I'd make sure the battery ground is good and the battery cables are in good condition

Its a clunk, and yea it starts no problem with a screw driver at the starter......
Just replaced the negative battery cable...

Then I am confused, if the S wire was not giving power when you turn the key to start you would not get a click or clunk and when you jump the solenoid the car starts... :?:

Yea tell me About it ITS so wire Idk what to do Im gettn frustrated n Tierd i just remplaces the ignition cylinder.. My next step is the positivo cable after that Im clueless do u know how the starter is wired up... And the original components are not their it now has a 350 any help

The starter has the battery wire plus two red wires that have the fusible links attached to the large terminal and one smaller purple wire that goes to the S terminal on the solenoid

o maybe we found the problem my starter has no purple wire going to it only the main positive and the fusible 3 wire link... how do i run the purple wire to it... please reply
