84 monte carlo srarting problems

ok so the starter has a purple wire.. what about the starter does it need a ground wire

No ground. The engine block is the source of ground.

ok so its now starting now man the starte cought on fire, i installed a new one in it was all magic.... starts every time... thanks guys for the help

took the starter to autozone they said it was good it passed 7 times in a row

I'd go back with the burnt starter and tell them where they can put it....

and I'm glad you got that fixed... 🙂
