$50 was the going rate for a 305 when I put it in my monte in '99. Was everything but intake & exhaust manifolds, had reman heads. Even was the correct code '81 block for a A-body. Now it sits waithing for it's trip to the scrapper.

In 99 I paid $200 for a whole running and driving 305 83 monte. I used parts from it to build my 78 nova that I later sold for barely $300, and it was straight as an arrow just needed an engine. Times change, but I still don’t want a 305.
But they make great planters, anchors, back fill, ballast, lawn art, coffee table base...
On a budget, you can get a 350 block, bearing and piston kit and make a 350 from the 305 rods, crank, tin and accessories. Same flexplate, balancer, starter, distributor, intake manifold.
The 267, 305, 350 all have the same stroke of 3.48". Other than the 400 all '68 up SBC V8's & V6's can use the same rods. '55-'67 (excluding '67 350's which used the '68 up large journal) all use the small journal rods.
There were questions about why would you want to use a 305. I was offering an option what you could do later on a budget with that same 305.
