Unless you don’t feel like modifying the harness and putting a computer in a car that didn’t have one, then yeah sure.
Of course.....the owner can do whatever he/she wants.....the opinion of random guys on the internet is pretty much meaningless.

My approach to life in general is "live and let live"........when the next generation is swapping Tesla electric motors into gbodies, I will stand back and admire the ingenuity.....you won't hear any "get off my lawn" comments from me.

I've also never seen ls parts cheaper than 307 parts. I mean, it's $7 for a fuel pump, $50 for an alternator, $15 for a water pump.

Original mechanical parts for a gbody are much cheaper than anything ls oriented, with way less to break.

I can't wait for all the ls fanboys to be stuck with hacked cars and dried up electronic parts choosing between poorly working Chinese knockoff aftermarket and nothing.

Meanwhile oem guys will buy a $15 carb kit, $3 water pump gasket set, or $9 in alt rebuilt parts and just keep their old junk, worth a premium to collectors as it's original and not hacked, on the road.
I'm not so sure of all that. LS parts are all over the place, and I have a feeling LS parts will be available for a good while. And I do grant you, they probably won't be as cheap or cheaper than 307, but there's plenty of options out there. If you can get it in a Corvette, it will continue to be serviced FAR longer than run of the mill stuff. Look at Lightning Rods shift cables. They had a LOOOONG run in the GMSPO system because the part originally fit....Corvette.

As far as the oem guys with their original branded V8s, it depends also on the oem stuff available, too. Most aftermarket...yeah, plenty around and very reasonable for the most part. NOS or Genuine GM parts? They're drying up fast so those parts are going to cost way more. Walker used to make the replacement VIN9 exhaust systems, but, well, not anymore. So even some aftermarket stuff is DOA.

I think there were 663,586,403 G-bodies made (I exaggerate to clarify). Even with heavy attrition, and dissolving frames/T-top metal, there are still some decent cars running around. Granted, they are getting to be farther between sightings, but go to nearly any cruise-in/car show and you'll see at least 1 or likely more. If the engine swap to a SBC in this ebay car was necessary to keep it alive, then so be it. But if they just threw away the 307 for the sake of a SBC, then I think they were idiots. Price just went way down. Because you can't fix it back to stock even if you wanted. At 25K asking price, it better come with a suitcase with at least $20K in it in the trunk. It's their car, they can put any engine in it they want, but if they wanted me to even consider it, that SBC is an instant deal breaker.

In about 10 years, once guys start putting Tesla motors in old classic cars regularly, people will be wishing for the “old LS” haha

Agreed man, no rules to custom work fr.

Who cares? Gasoline will be outlawed by then anyway.
You can convert an old gas pushrod engine to run on propane. And you know with heating and electric infrastructure what it is propane will be around a long long time.

Or, go old school like wwii England and convert to run on coal/charcoal. And ls will be a boat anchor

Exactly, from experience in I.T. and seeing electronics having worse quality over time, it’s why I went to carbureted engines in the first place.

People need to understand- the more a vehicle depends on the computer, the more maintenance you have to put in it, and the more diagnosing is going to be required.

Now that doesn’t mean I am against installing an LS, but I wouldn’t do it if the SBC is working fine.
