Nice build! Any more updates?

I've never heard of anyone leaving their bearings in while having machine work done as well. I guess you can just wipe them down and blow everything out before inserting cam?

Hopefully they put the freeze plugs and cam bearings in after hot bathing/acid dipping your block.
havent been working on the car. been kickin it with the fam and friends. leaving on monday.
and the machine shop did dip the block before cam bearings and plugs were in. and they said the wash after boring the cylinders dont hurt the bearings. so i trust them.
the only thing i got done was get the engine bay cleaned up. sprayed the firewall with some undercoating. and the frame rails. got the inner fenders painted. and had to redo the wiring to the starter and the alternator. thats it. engine is done just havent picked it up. the guy knows im leaving monday and told me he would store it for me in some packing oil and wrap till i get back. good thing is im coming back to san antonio for my ait. so hopefully i will get a weekend pass pretty quick so i can get this car on the road and i already talked my wife into letting me get the body work done with this coming income tax :D
im thinkin royal blue. or flat black

hope everyone has been doing good. im back home for 2 weeks for x mas exodus. completed my army bct and now starting ait. luckily for me my ait is in my hometown. so i can work on my car on weekends. well came home to see the car covered in dust. time to invest in a car cover. pressured washed that sucker. picked up my engine from the machine shop but still not sure what heads im gonna run. im debating on selling the car once i get the engine in and running. so im prob gonna run some cast iron heads i have here. well this week im just gonna hump and get this motor back together and try to get the engine in and running before i got to report back to training on jan 2nd. wish me luck! oh ill have some pics asap! 8)

so today got alot done. got to change the oil and o2s on my dd. and got to put the sbc together for my cutlass. only thing i got left is buy some headers, stab the dist in and set my timing oh and i still need the ps pump bracket but im not to worried about that now. im gonna setup the carb and adjust the vt on the engine stand. hopefully i can get this sucker running after x mas.

and yes those are stamp steel rockers. depending on where i get my first duty station will determine if i have to sell the car or i can keep it. so until then im gonna use cast iron heads and stamp steel rockers.

got alot done on the cutty today. got my engine and trans connected, dropped in. radiator installed, almost all linkages hooked up. just got to find a speedo gear housing cuz the original one cracked. oh and a speedo cable. and need to stab the dist and get wires hooked up. would have done that today but after searching i realized i never bought a rotor for the dizzy. so need to get one tomorrow. ordered my headers so they should be here tomorrow. more pics tomorrow

well guys im not gonna get the car back on the road before i go back to training on sunday :( all it needs is some u joints installed on the driveshaft and transmission lines and fluid. for it to be back on the road. of course i still need to install the guages but that should be it. today is my daughters 1st bday so i called it quits to hang out with the family since i wont see them for at least a month. and tomorrow im gonna take my mustang or harley out for a cruise before i got to cover all my toys up again. as soon as i can come home on weekends ill have that cutlass ready to roll. that should be end of jan early feb. happy new yr to everyone. have fun and be safe.

With v8, AC, cruise, spare tire, fuel etc 3,550 would be common for a Cutty if you got 250 pound drive walla 3,800 driving weight.
