BUILD THREAD 86 GP 2+2~Blown 6.0

I have been trying to find 98-04 2wd blazer brakes for the last few months. Problem being in IA and its a well known mod, there isn't any! Everyone that claims they have them on car-part actually dont. And thats in the entire MN/ND/IA area.

DANG YOU INTERNETS! Even the 4wd ones are 50% missing the front spindles!

They say 93 to early 95 Grand cherokees have the right shaft. I grabbed two, one for the wagon and one for the the GP. Got home to realize I got one of the wrong ones. Only out $15 i guess.

Basically, the 93 to early 95 is the same, but there was a body restyle in 95 production. However, even if it is a early 95 car it MAY have the wrong one. The one i pulled off had a 3/95 production date with the correct horizontal grill and the fuel filler door that has the release lever on the floor by the drivers seat.

Despite it being the right year range, it had the wrong larger D shaft on the steering column end. You need to look for shafts with the steel ends on both sides.

95+ left, 93-94 center, stock right.

Awesome

Which cam are you running

BTR (brian tooley racing) stage 2 blower. Bought it used for about half new. I was going to get an EPS blower cam BUT this one came up at the right time so i went for it.

I decided I'm going to just go with LS1 calipers and rotors. I want to keep with a 15" tire and select 15's fit with the stock ls1 rotors and calipers ground a bit. Its bigger than the S10 stuff and I can actually get the parts. I just need to turn my rotors down but since I have a lathe thats no problem.

http://www.flynbye.com/catalog/i25.html for the LS1 calipers and rotors on a stock G body spindle.

I also ordered the full moog front suspension kit. My tie rod ends are worn out at best. Thats this weeks project I think.

Nice

I'm leaning towards a 5.3 swap into my el camino
If I can justify the higher 6.0 I'll go that route
But I think the 5.3 with a cam and some head work would do just fine
I'd love to have 300-325 rwhp

That's all I need

a 5.3 as complete as you can get it is all you need to make 300-350. A 5.3 makes that stock basically when you put a decent exhaust and tune in it. A cam should get it in the mid/upper 300's no issue.

Well I blew my front suspension apart today. Had some free time and it was a beautiful day so I took advantage of it.

That free spring height is why they porpoise down the road.
