Are you putting an Olds motor in your Elco?

Aww Naw....I called summit up and chatted with them about these headers before I got em. Dude said they would work! :x I just talked to Chris (Kuruption109) and I think I see where the confusion was. I told Summit that they were for a El Camino 350 motor swap. Maybe they were thinking I was installing a Old's 350(since I was asking about these particular headers made for the Olds). Chris just explained to me about the Olds 350's are different. Oh man! Luckily I got a few peeps lined up that want em. Thanks for pointing that out bruh! I didnt know this. Thats why I called the tech line before grabbing em. Damn! I hate to spend the loot again for some Doug's headers:shock:

Oh thats sounds good too! 7up upside down cake and a home made apple pie on the way. I better slow it down or I might not be able to fit in the El!!!

Success!! BFH handled the spindle with one hit. Well two. The first one I bopped the hell outta my thumb. Yep! Its black and blue. The second hit knocked it loose. Cleaned the spindle, spring and brake caliper up and sprayed em. Just scrubbed the frame down and I'm about to roll some chasis saver on. Let it dry and the install everything...I'll wait til about 5ish so the Chasis saver is dry and the painted parts are dry...

Spindle was soaked in Purple Power.

Glad you had a happy birthday. :notworthy:

Tacos, Chicken, waffles, pie, and everything else.
( the tenderloin got turned into pulled pork sandwiches with home made coleslaw ,and roasted sweet corn on the cob.)

Thanks bruh!. Man Im swingin by for dinner!! 😀

Well..Things are moving along nicely. Got the passenger side spindle off (at the cost of my thumb nail :shock🙂 Got the springs, spindles, new rotors, wheel bearings and everything installed. I was double checking the castle nuts and codder pins and the springs to make sure they where seated correctly in the frame. I found that the passenger spring had rotated a little while installing it. The pigtail is sitting over the 2 drain holes in the lca and not down in the pocket. Gotta correct this in the morning. If not I think it will sit higher on the driver side. I'll just take the shock out and compress the spring a little and turn it about .5". That should do the trick. Then set the car on its own weight, bouce it a few times and then back up on jack stand to do the final tightening on bolts. Bleed the brakes and install the rear springs. No pics cuz I was working and then cleaning up. Mel and Chris are coming thru from AZ to kick it and possibly help with the last few things. I'll get some pics up later... Almost done. This really should have taken a day to do. I decided to just work a lil each day til it was done...

Thanks for checkin back and all the help/encouragement. That spring compressor is a b!tch to use  But I finally got it done.

I still gotta compress the driver side spring and turn it just a lil bit. Its not seated correctly in the lca's pocket. The pigtail end is not seated correctly. I just mocked things up for a few pics...I all of a sudden got worried that I may have the spring upside down. The pigtails looked the same on both ends tho. Would the car sits any higher if I did in fact have the spring upside down? It looks the same as the passenger side(the way the coil is sitting in the lca)Bout to take the shock back out and correct it now...After that, all I'll need to do is put the wheels back on, get the car on its weight and then back up and tighten everything down. Bleed the brakes and start the rear. I may just do the springs for now and install the upper/lower trailing arms later....

OH BOY!! Santa was good to a brotha this year. I'll have to start a whole new thread on that one tho

Wow Boss!!!! Looking so super clean!!!...I got some xtra xmas cash$$ I just might get started on my suspension!!!..lol..keep it up...

I don't know about the springs you're using, but the stock style springs are flat at the top for where they sit in the frame pocket, so you'd know if they were upside down.

Make sure the car is down on the ground with the weight on the front end when you tighten the bolts.
If the suspension is hanging when you tighten them you can actually lock it in place like that, and it will sit noticably higher as a result.
But don't worry if it sits higher than you want when you first get it together, it will eventually settle once you start driving it.

Man thats good to hear bruh!! From here on out all my builds will start with the suspension first. I just did a "stock" like replacement on everything. Didnt cost much to get everything together. For "Tha Alibu" I'm goin all out on the suspension. Learning a ton from doin this on the SS and Elco. The old girl should ride like a chizzamp in the Morning. Im finishing her off right now. Editing my vids and pics right now. Imma get back on her in an hour and drop her on the wheels, then back up for the final tighting up. Here's a few more pics/quick vid...

Comin together nicely for a homegrown job and a newb to turnin wrenches. Coulda and shoulda been finished with this a while back. But I wanted to take my time and document everything I did...

Thanks for the tips bruh!! I read about not tightening everything up back when I did my SS. Yep.. Its all just snugged up. Im correcting the driverside spring (not seated correctly in the lca) and then putting the wheels on and resting her on her own weight. Maybe bounce the front end a few times and then tighten it all up. Alignment in the morn. I ended up installing the og springs I took out. Both ends look the same. When I took the driverside out, I noticed it didnt have the flat edge on top like other springs I've seen. Then I looked at my Moog spring set. Same thing. Both ends are round. Hmmmm. You can see in this pic that both ends are rounded..

5275096323_68f316b13b_z.jpg

After painting the stocks, I installed it and then I wasnt sure if I had the driverside flipped the right way. Since both ends of the spring look the same I thought I should be ok. When I took the passengers side out, the lil rubber piece was stuck on top of the spring. I used some electrical tape to hold it while I painted it up. The only thing I noticed about the driverside spring is that if set on one side, the spring would stand straight up. If sat on the other end the spring leaned to one side. Thats why I was worried. I'm not sure what side would go in the tower... I'll turn the spring a tad to get it to sit correctly in the lca and then drop it and see if it sits correctly. Thanks again for the help bruh! I really appreciate that..

Wish me luck!!
