Been a lil while since Ive been on. Thanks fellas for the cool words. And Thanks mel for getting all that handled for me. Cant wait to get it all back home. Been doing a "lil" work on the el. Interior is out,and ive been getting some goodies together for my exhaust system, sounds and other lil stuff. Just gotta find the time to get going on her...
Yanked the carpeting out and cleaned the floor up. Ill be grabbing a flux welder this weekend to weld in the brackets. Thanks again Mel for the help with that...
Carpets out. Floors look really clean!!!! The usual stuffa gonna happen here. Scuff, clean and lay some rust protection down. I have this stuff from Fat Mat. Its a rust preventative , gravel guard and 30 mil thick sound dampener...
Got all the brackets needed. Harbor Freight welder soon and I'll knock the brackets out right quick.
Decided to give Magnaflow a try this time around for the exhaust upgrade. Im a Flowmaster and Thrush guy, but the models I like are too loud for a daily. I know these sound really "clean" on F.I. cars. If I dont like em, they will work in the Malibu
Model number 14236 Universal polished Stainless steel Mufflers.
I almost sent em back cuz of the brown tint from them welding the mufflers. Im having the entire system includidng mufflers "Jet Hot Coated" so its all good...
Went with the Pypes Exhaust "X Change" x pipe setup like i have on my SS. This is old stuff and you guys know about this system already. Has the cutouts welded in. Worked sweet on my SS so I decided to roll with the system on the El. Didnt do the high polished like I did on the SS since its getting jet hot coated..
Im setting it all up the same way i did on the SS. Flipped the pipes around so that the exhaust flows right out the headers once uncapped. NOW i find out that Pypes sells the legs only so you can set it up just how I did 3 years ago on my SS. The X Change system sets the cutouts out too fars. So we moved things around...The legs will need to be sized up and cut so the X sits where it needs to...
My
SS setup from years back...
I swear Pyps watched my old youtube vid and copied :x
Went with some BadlanzeHPE remote controlled cutouts. Beautiful setup. Ive had great results with the Badlanz kit on my SS. Customer service is on point!! Got the 2.5" "Low profile" system...
In this pic i have a Badlanz "Y" adapter. I was gonna run an "H" pipe setup, but changed my mind. I'll save that Y for the Bu build..
Remote setup, cabin toggle switch and Key chain remotes
Im a huuuuuge car audio fan so Ive been getting back into it. 0 gauge ground all over and upgraded power wires to 0. 99.99 pure OFC. 5145 strands of beautiful flexible copper...
KnuKonceptz Kolossus wire..Got about 60 feet in blue and dark grey, distrubution blocks, end terminal and all the goods needed to get it done
This is a comparison of some old 4 gauge wire next to some Knuconcepts 4 gauge power wire. No comparison  The red wire is all plastic covering...
0 gauge...
Stinger battery isolator and digital terminals
battery has just been sitting for the past 6 months. Still had a lil juice in it. The Stinger battery terms are gonna workout nicely. Blue readout to match the other parts...
Battery will be cfiber dipped(blue)
Picked up some wire covering. looks pretty clean. Mesh split loom..Kinda has a c fiber look to it. Wish they had blue. But it will work...
Also got about 30 0 gauge terminals, sanded all the shine off of em and picked up a propane torch, flux and solder. I will use my battery terminal crimper in my vice, then solder a nice lug on the terminal. Should make for a really solid connection for all the wires I'm doing..
JL 13w7 for the win...
Ive had the speakers since 2002!! Time to put em to use...
Gotta few other sound system goodies to get before i can lay some carpet down. i wanna get all this done while the carpets out..I will head up to HF and get the flux welder. Sorry for the long *ss post. Just letting you guys (that follow the build) know what Ive been upto... Till the next pic installment...
