sh*t that looks clean!!! I'm not usually a fan of gloss black, i'm a satin kinda guy, but i love what you did!
Thanks bruh!! Im the same way. I like a satin gloss finish. Looks more oem to me. I wasnt paying attention to the bottle when I purchased the paint. Saw the cap and grabbed it. Sprayed it and let dry. Came back and was like ahhhh! Looked at THE BOTTLE and it read "Gloss Black". LOL. The can I used for the window cowl the wiper ledge area and the ac delete ledge are a nice satin. Came out cool for a newb. The gloss flows with all the polished/chrome parts. Just lettin everything cure up before I put it all back together. Im going to roll some rubberized undercoating on the insides of the wells to "freshen" em up. The project came out pretty cool. Here's a few pics of the wells hole filling process...
Scuffed up the inside of the wels with 60 grit sand paper and cleaned with denatured alcohol. Then taped the holes..These pics show the underside of the wheel wells
Then I used some 3m bondo plastic filler/bumper filler. Its a 2 part setup. Just pop the cap off and squeeze the product out. Mix and lay it down..
You can see some of the other holes I filled
I built the plastic filler up over each hole. That way i could work the area and knock the material down with my sanding block until level. I used 60 grit for that step..
There's a bunch of other holes that where filled prior to this pic. I had gave these bumpers to Chris- Kuruption109, but they didnt fit his ride. He had drilled the holes out, so I had another chance to practice doin this when I got em back...
Inside the well...I'll scuff this again and lay some mesh cutouts and filler there for extra stregnth. Then roll or spray some rubberized undercoating to clean it up. Should work out cool...
Then came the more sanding and smoothing. I used 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, and finished with 1500 grit. Worked out nice. I had a few runs, but they are in an area that you wont be able to see when the wells are installed. The key to no runs is to stay 8-12" from the area, and keep the can moving. I used a 50% overlay spray pattern. I also practiced on some parts prior to painting. That helped alot. I was able to get my spray pattern and rythm down. Thanks for lookin fellas!!
