I hope you like that “Street Racer” torque converter. Sounds like an El cheapo unit that will be loose and drive like crap…. Sorry to be a pessimist but you get what you pay for.
The converter was $900, which I thought was expensive. He ordered it through FTI , they needed to know weight, gearing, cam and tire size. So hopefully not.

It was $3500 for the rebuild. It has a 12mo/12,000 mile warranty that starts when I start using it. After I get it driving he wants to be the go for a ride to insure everything is working properly. It's nice when people actually care about their work.
Here is a part list. I don't know alot about transmissions.View attachment 190997
Thats a lot of money for a "stockish" rebuild with an HD2 kit. Just my opinion. At least they did the 34 element sprag and rollered the output. You won't ever break it though.

I think you will like the converter, I have a custom spec billet triple from FTI and it is absolutely perfect. They do very good work.

Hopefully won't break it. I got burned before seeking a cheap rebuild. I was referred to this shop by 2 reputable mechanics and was impressed by his 5 star reviews on both FB and Google for what that's worth.
He also is 7 miles from racetrack where he's earned a good reputation. Basically don't know enough to know pricing, but trust him, So all is good.

Little tardy to this party but since you're no stranger to welding, put a Buick 455 in it.
All iron it's only a fat dog heavier than iron abc and aluminum heads and intake make it as light or lighter than an iron ls.

He's already got an LS3. I think he's past that portion of the build?

I haven't seen alot of those around. I had a lead on a cheap Ls3, otherwise I would've considered it.

That looks like a school bus in Clairton or the Hill District. Maybe Duquesne.
That's how we roll around here in Upper Duquesne (West Mifflin)
