i have a quick performance 9" in my car with 33 spline axles. it fits better then the factory housing

I also have a Quick Performance 9 inch in my car and have been very satisfied with it.
If you are looking to spend the extra money, TRZ out of Florida has a VERY nice 9" setup for a G Body too.

I ended up ordering the 9" from Quick performance. fast turn around, great customer service. amazing stuff.

Now I just got to get the car to the point to beable to mount it.

So......anyone care to disclose the cost for a complete bolt in unit? I'm talking a completely built unit with gears, axles, the center section and brakes (disc or drum). I know options can change the costs, but what's a realistic number to go this route?

I added all of this stuff up with Currie at one time and I came out around $2500. Sure the cost of the housing & axle pkg looks great, but then you have everything else to add up in the end.

Do you guys really think it's money better spent vs. a used 8.5" or a 12 bolt in the $700-$1K range?

If you’re not already locked into a set of wheels and don’t plan on doing a lot of gear changes, I personally think the 12 bolt A Body rear end would be the choice I’d make. Figure the $150-200 for upper control arms and you have a better rear end than the 8.5......for around the same money.

The one thing to keep in mind with any used rear end is that the initial price is usually just the starting point. You will often have to go thru it and at a minimum install new pinion and axel seals and do a brake job. Worst case is new bearings (axel, and carrier) axels, gears and add a Posi. Parts can start to add up real quick.

Too bad you’re so far away, I have a 69 Chevelle 12 bolt with hiway gears that I’m looking to sell.

I've been looking too. The ones I've come across have extremely proud owners.

for that 12 bolt it'd be worth it to crate it up and pay the freight. A 9" is nice if you need to change the gears often but the 12 bolt is a plug and play with the upper conversion arms. JBrue has one on his Monte and he's got some serious power under his hood.

.....or strapped to a pallet and picked up at a freight terminal

if you wanna know the cost of mine i have no problem posting it.

I got a 9" with back brace, upgraded 35 spline axle, 4.56 gears, wilwood pro street brakes with no parking brake, billet bearings, sherical upper bushings, aluminum center section, and a bunch of other goodies.
came to $3119 with shipping (shipping was $150)

well worth it. 4 boxes and easy to put together.
