My box is out of a ws6 trans am and is 2.25 turns lock to lock with tighter valving. Huge improvement over the granny pinkie turn box I had

That's the same one I'm using. My car has yet to see the road, but I also have a 34mm f-body sway bar. It's been awhile since I've looked into any of this, but I think part of the reason I went with this box is to avoid tire rub on the sway bar. Once I mount my tires I can confirm that.

thats one reason i did to to avoid hitting my 36mm sway bar lol. i havent noticed any issues or noticed the little less turning radius at all honestly buit the extra tight valving is awesome but it was twitchy until i got used to it.

How does it do with that bigger sway bar and what kind of springs are you running? I can't wait to see how my car drives with all of the upgrades.

the bigger bar is awesome. Im running Hotchkis Springs and Bilstien shocks. All in all i love it. The car handles way better than i ever thought it could. hard to believe theres even further i can take it still lol

That's good to hear. I have Billsteins up front too, but I 'm using Moog 5660's and drop spindles.

Why not use a box from a Grand Cherokee 98+. I have it on both my 71 442 and the 87 Turbo. They are easy to find and install.

I didn't even think of that. There was actually an article in the July Hotrod Magazine mentioning the use of the '96-'98 Jeep Grand Cherokee steering boxes.
I believe they're also the close ratio variety. If I have to replace mine again, I'll go that route.

I have the Z box but I am trading it out for a 600 box. The 600 box is said to be the equivalent to a rack and pinion and it goes for about $600 but we have one on a spare LM chassis so it's going on my car 🙂 .

Hey! How soon before I'm a Royal Smart Person. I feel like chopped liver over here. ...

Steve why would you go backwards to a 600 box? Mine leaked like crazy and the rebuild kit was useless because the pitman shaft was so pitted and rusty. I have never had an 800 series box leak like that.
