Ramey, what pump are you using what the 670 box. I found a cardone number to use with the 600 box and there are other pumps but they don't fit the stock set up.

Currently using the stock '79 Monte pump and a 50% underdrive pulley. I have the cc's/turn data somewhere as I plan to change to the new style pump over the winter to save some weight. Still researching...

It works nicely with the pump that's on it though.

We have a cooler plumbed into the return side.

That's good to know it works with your stock pump, did you change the valve in the pump?. I can understand why you put a cooler in the return line. This fluid heats up quick in these pump and expands. We did the same thing with our Metric circle track car.

No valve change. Whatever was on the car is what we used. We kind of ran out of time getting ready for the season so we just went for it.

Strangely enough it worked nicely at full belt speed but tended to push some fluid out the vent cap. I imagine it got pretty hot as well with all the extra shear going on.

At 50% reduction the lid stays super clean and steering feel is still nice.

Great timing guys. I am working on a Jeep project and had a 1998 Cherokee donor in my yard for parts. The day I was going to haul it away for scrap I read this post and pull the steering gear so I can install it in my GP later.
