Oh and vettes had the chip in the key so you will need a computer chip with the "security system" disabled

Ah yes, VATS. that, along with several other bugs, can be tuned out by the ECM guy.

You can buy a VATS bypass chip off e-bay for about $12 bucks, I met a guy with an LT1 in an El Camino who did that and it worked. But then you're betting your car starts on a $12 e-bay chip. As Driven said, a tuner service can bypass the VATS and tune for any other mods. My old neighbor had OBD1 tuning software for his Camaro with an LT1 and supercharger but the LT! computer seems to be slow and finicky and he blanked an ecm trying to make changes. To me it was worth it to send out the ecm. ( I think it was around $159, vs buying software then buying an old *ss slow laptop that works slow enough to not kill the ecm.) I have a 95 LT1 in the Monte. I'm cheap so I bought a B-Body wiring book and modified my harness using LT1 swap.com, if you're scared of wiring you could buy a painless harness for $5-600 bucks.

The LT1's take boost just as well as the LS engines. I had a fabricator friend that built a bunch of LT1 turbocharged F bodies and B bodies. One such car was his father's 95 Impala with the bone stock iron headed LT1 to which he added a home built set up using 2 mid 80's Ford 2.3 Garret turbos, larger injectors, a home built water to air intercooler. It was tuned with LT1 edit. Car ran easy 12.60's with the stock 4L60E and stock 3.08 gears. I got a test ride down Rt 295 here in Jersey watching the digital speedometer roll up to 165 mph!

You can also wire a $.50 resistor in across the VATS leads.

There's lots of ways around VATS if you just want to get it to run. You'll likely be deleting several emissions related monitors at the same time. A tuner can make all those systems disappear, leaving you with a functional and useful CEL.

Think I'll sell the Corvette and bite the bullet and 6.0 Ls it. Thanks for the info on it. It helped a lot in my decision.
