98~05 Blazer brake upgrade! DONE!

New to the site. Just found this post. Excellent, detailed info. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade! I tip my hat to you for a job well done!

This thread is basically G body brake Scripture. I have managed to snag two sets of these spindles but so far have had no time to install them on my coupe and wagon. So, for now, I am typing this and hitting send, mostly so it is bookmarked in my 'View Your Posts' list so I can find it again!!!

SSN696, I would definitely agree. I am member of El Camino Central, but a long time lurker here.

My question for you is this, Will this setup work on a 1984 El Camino G Body?

My local yard has spindles forward for $75 a side including calipers. ( I think we call knuckles (spindles) in the south, not sure honestly)

Let me know!

To answer your question...yes, the Blazer brake setup will fit your '84 El Camino.
I think you'd be able to find the parts for less at a U-Pull yard. I bought my setup less rotors for $77.00 with calipers, hubs, and dust shields.
You may want to go for reconditioned calipers, new rotors....and maybe new hubs. So the cheaper you can find them, the better off you are.

Thanks a bunch! I need spindles too correct?

Yes, absolutely, the spindles or knuckles are the main component to this setup. Just make sure they're for a 2wd Blazer, not a 4wd. You can spot them easily enough. The 4WD will have axles going thru the spindle/ hub assembly, whereas the 2wd will not.
In fact, this is explained earlier on this thread, which is very informative.

Would you be pulling them yourself?

BTW, welcome to the forum.

I've been working about 60-70 hours a week, so I was going to opt for the already pulled yard price. For 125, the guy has them sitting on the shelf. I know that makes me lacking bolts, but if anyone knows all the dimensions for those bolts and nuts I would certainly appreciate it!

Thanks,
Martin

Martin,
$125.00 for already pulled parts is not a bad price. Sometimes it's worth it to save your back, not mentioning the time factor.

That's for sure. I'll probably flush the calipers and have everything bead blasted & painted. Hopefully that will root out any potential issues with the calipers. As for the hubs, ill definitely ensure that they spin freely and don't have any noise before buying them.
