So i was looking for some advice.

My interior door handle broke this past weekend, i can find several replacements out there.
What is the best quality replacement?
Should i look for a NOS replacement, so i get the quality?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Car make/model, etc,?

Assuming regular G-body. I don't know if all the G-body inside door handles are the same, but it really depends on what you plan on doing with your ride. If you care about the best quality, GM stuff is better than the Help/Dorman brand of pot metal. The thing is, if you want to shell out a little more for a genuine GM part, it'd probably be worth it if you're keeping the car a good while. I'm assuming you need a LH one?

GM p/n 20009582 for LH (driver), and 20009583 for RH.

Wellston, OK
I have used the Dormans with no issues.

The biggest killers of door handles are worn hinges/bushings, and dirty/dry/unlubricated latches

PS, the GM ones are/were pormetal as well.

But like I said, the GM ones are better quality potmetal. And you were going to say "pornmetal" weren't you? :)

I put some dormans on my then-new-to-me 87 Cutlass Salon and in 3 short months, the finish started pitting. I'm like WTF? I broke down and bought new GM ones and never had an issue since. Nothing wrong with the operation but the finish sure didn't hold up worth a crap.

It's like anything else, there's some good ones and bad ones in every parts bunch.

I like the GM ones better as they are better quality than the Help!/Dorman ones dispite them all being pot metal. The GM ones even look better, the handle has rounded corners at the end & way better chrome. Those repops must all be made at the same plant Taiwan, they all have the same square ends on the handle & look cheap. I try to save any originals I come across. Maybe when the time when our cars hit 1st gen Camaro status they'll make better ones.

They are all the same door handle. I got mine through Rock Auto. Not sure of the brand but it is holding up. I also bought a rivet gun to fasten mine to the door as the original door handle. I see no difference from the original.
