I currently have 22 inch 5 star dayton wheels on my 86. I installed a stock lt1 and transmission with a shift kit out of a 95 z28 . Had the rear end rebuilt with 373 gears, Eaton posi, and Moser axels...my question/concern is I want to go down to 18" 100 spoke rims. Ive had a couple ppl tell me that the It1 may have too much power for spoke wheels. Any comments or advice would be appreciated

Stock LT1 Camaro tune is 275 HP. I can't imagine that is going to be an issue, unless the wheels are pure crap.

What brand are the 100 spoke? I have read about concern about cheap wheels. However, I think I'd be more worried about thin walled tires than too much power for the wheels. You should be able to visually inspect the wheels pretty easily.

I think you should play it safe and get some aluminum 5 spoke rims instead.

That is what I say..i
My cousin ran 18" 100 spoke daytons on a 95 Impala SS with no ill effects. That had an Lt1.
Thanks for the replies..I haven't decided on a brand yet. I figured Dayton would be the most solid but they are out of my price range. I jus look at all those low riders out west hopping around on there wire wheels and can't imagine a LT1 would be as harsh ..just want to be safe with the family ya know

No problem. He might have even had 20" daytons, it has been a while since he was driving it.

Were they actual Daytons Or "Dayton style"?.I've noticed a lot of the cheaper wheels advertise as "Dayton style" spokes

He called them daytons, thats as far as I know. They were definitely spoked wheels though. I doubt he still has them, and the car is parked in the yard at his dad's place.
