I also noticed this. the fact that the little arm isn't connected to the back of the it... does this act aS a ground and should I rotate the clock of the alternator to ground it?

Before you clock it, have it tested. Then clock it and test it again. Is this a new alternator or a used one from a yard? do you still have the old one? DId you have the current alternator tested ON or OFF the car? To accurately test it, it must be bench tested. If it was on the car, did they rev the engine to 2000 rpms while testing the voltage? If not, drive it back to AZ and have them test it on the car and rev the motor to 2000 rpms for a 5 seconds. If the voltage is dropping while reving it, have it tested off the car.....if you still have problems, you've got something hooked up wrong. keep us posted....

got another one, the problem persisted. charge light went off,but the voltage didn't go back up. Rev it, and while the RPMs go up, so does the brightness of the charge light. back at idle, charge light is gone. radio completely turned off, then I hit the blinker to see if it'd drop the voltage even more... car died.lol

do a load test on your battery.... I dont think that was done or mentioned yet.

i took it out to get charged, 0% charge on it at 12.42 volts. lol...
all of this has made me realize i truely hate wiring in old school cars.... one **** up can be the BIGGEST headache

dude seriously... :blam: :blam: :blam: :blam: :blam: looks to me like it was the water pump the whole time. doesnt move any faster when revving. either that or the fact that the AC belt isnt on there. either way, this pisses me off. a long *ss month of headaches, walmart idiots, wasted gas...... ****

:wtf:
