Am I the only one who is tired of LS swaps?

I gotta agree the LS/SBC while great engines, everybody's dot one it seems. I'm a purist, Buick in a Buick, Chevy in a Chevy etc. That's why I did a Buick 455. Like Qdub24, I'm a big block hoader as well.

Beautimus. How as the clearance on the heater box?

I have to pull your chain a little - you mentioned you are a purist, the only buick engine that came in the Regal was the 3.8 - it did come w/ a SBC

one guy has swapped a supercharged l67 into an 80's cutlass and there are a few turbocharged 3800 series II grand national swaps out there. If you search turbobuick.com, you can read up on them.

Any one ever think about a 3800 engine. Good little engine that can make a lot of power. 200 horse power stock. 300-500 horse power turbo. Plentiful and cheep engines.

I know the LS engines have proven themselves as being durable and from the factory already make good power and come with better quality parts and have easy potential to make even more power and I think for Gbodies I am more open to the swap since GM already decided that for these cars that there was no more purism as far as engine choice anymore.
But for me the cars that I truly consider classic muscle cars which are basically Chevelle's, GTO's and Cutlass 442 etc. from that era I want to see them with some form of purism even if it's a stroked 455 in your Firebird that only came with a 350 Pontiac.
And I think for the B.O.P. purist you have to accept that fact that these these engines are not readily available and most have not been in production since the 70's and many of the ones you can find as a core are questionable at best and then you have to have a machine shop that you can trust to properly rebuilt it and even though there is some aftermarket support the parts are very expensive and your choices are limited.
I think if GM still made crate engines for B.O.P. this would be a whole different story but sadly this is not the case.
For my Regal I think putting a Buick in it would be cool but since it has a 307 and easy swap would be a bigger Olds engine but at the end of the day I am building this car on a budget and already have a fresh set of Edelbrock SBC heads that I basically got for free and have most everything other than a shorblock so I will most likely go with a SBC when the time comes.
As for my Monte if the 565 BBC with nitrous isn't fast enough then I just build it more.

Actually I think the best looking/flowing heads from the 70's were the AMC dog leg head. You could tell Chrysler copied it with their Magnum cylinder heads.

I agree with everything you said. It was well put.
I'm holding out hope I can get a sponsorship from my uncle's engine shop and we can drop his 482ci aluminum bbc with big chief heads and a single dominator that he has sitting. My Ls would be relagated to a corner of the garage. Haha. Wishful thinking.

To each their own...

I always wondered if anyone here has swapped a Northstar into a gbody?
