I really want to know if a Vortec 4200 I6 could be put into my Cutlass. I love inline 6 engines and think it would be cool to have one in a G-body. Or do a Grand National style 3.8 only instead of a turbo build do a centrifugal supercharged build.

I'm just starting a 3800 Series II and 4L60E swap out of an 02 Firebird. Doesn't appear to be easy by any means, but should double the HP from 110 to 220. I'm doing it for injection and overdrive reasons.

I don't believe I've ever heard of one in a g body. There was a 4200 in a Nova wagon that competed in Drag Week a few years back.

The Trailblazer guys don't speak too highly of the 4200. The upside would be that, on a turbo build, the hot side might be as simple as flipping the exh manifold and mounting the turbo at the collector.

Be sure to document your build, I'm slowly collecting parts for a 3800 swap myself.

Im pretty sure I know the Nova wagon you are talking about. If its the same car that is the car that made me think it could possibly work. If I remember correctly it was a Silver 66 or 67. I also remember a Car Craft article years ago where somebody swapped a mean 400+hp turbo 4200 into a 69 FireBird. As far as them not being spoke highly of I know they had a lot of issues with VVT solenoids going bad. While not the easiest fix, its not the worst either. If I remember correctly you have to pull the water pump to get to it, but that should be the hardest part of the job.

That swap sounds like it could be a great platform to build off. You could go so many ways with that too. If I end up with a modern transmission like that 4L60E in my Cutlass down the road I would love to get TCI's Paddle Shifter set up to go with it. Think it would be great for track days and auto crossing.

I've got a 350 Buick in my Regal. Not too out there in the realm of odd g body engines, but you certainly hardly ever see one. It's as easy as a 305 to a 350 chevy.
I have a 83 cutlass with 1973 buick 350 I'm trying to figure out what motor mounts to use can you point me in the right direction

Yep, use 3.8 frame mounts and 3.8 rubber mounts. May need to clearance the heater box, kinda varies from car to car, body bushing sag and what not. Look up Blake442's 3.8/th200 to 350/350 thread.

If it can use the 3.8 mounts, i would highly recommend using a HR parts and stuff mount on the driver side. It takes very little torque to tear the factory rubbers, and then gravity is your motor mount.
