Oh I know. There's little difference between s2 & 3. Like rods, oil pans, valves, ports(slight dif) and upper plenum. I personally prefer s3 myself

This is my oddball engine in the making. A 2000 3800 series two with 96 comaro rear wheel drive parts. I am invested in the idea, but still kind of a pipe dream I guess. The car has probably one of the oddest engines available in a 80 g body all ready. A 3.8 Buick draw through turbo engine. Problem is it lacks in the performance part. Have you looked up carb turbo performance on BeforeBlack.net ?

Yes I have. The carb turbo setup is pretty limited on horsepower and performance. I could swap the top end for a 84-87 top end, but that is a lot of money for little bang. I am going to start with a better platform and turbo it. I will be money and performance a head I think.

Plus in event of failure s2/3 3800s are easier and cheaper to find. I got my l26 short block with 30k miles for $67 :D

I always wanted to do a 2.2L/5 speed swap out of a 2000 or so S-10. It would not be a rocket by any means, but 28-30 mpg might just make up for it.

In high school a kid tried to drop a Ford 361cid Lima Industrial V8 and a 1 ton leaf spring rear end in a pretty decent rust free Black Knight.... I offered to buy it but was turned down before he tried the swap. he butchered the car and never finished it...

Well, considering the stock 4.3L is rated at 105hp, it wouldn't be TOO much slower...
And there's a few small things you can do to get more power, biggest difference would be adding a turbo, and 1.6 rockers.

Just dug this one up from a stop at work the other day, how about putting a Tempest 195 ci 4 banger, the half a 389 used from '61-'63.
