In the last year I have replaced 4 oil pressure senders on my daughter's '00 Jeep. All were Standard Motor Products brand which is usually very reliable. One was a replacement from Amazon- and I don't even want another this time. I just replaced it with an Airtex-Wells model. I hope it lasts or maybe I have another issue?

I swore off Wells about 20 years ago. I don't have any experience with Standard Motor Products but generally don't hold auto parts grade aftermarket replacement parts in high regard. Can you still get the O.E. sender? Hopefully this one will work out. I can't imagine what would contribute to oil pressure sender failure.

No Steve, no leaks. What they did was get stuck at various points on the gauge dial. Usually around 20psi. Sometimes they would drop to 0, sometimes not. One would not move off 0. Each time a new one was installed it worked great for a while then quit. Jared, I am sure the OEM one is available and after all the ones I wasted money on, I probably could have bought several.

I wasn't trying to rub it in. I've just become a part snob because of too many bad experiences.

I've had this happen with an idle air controller valve before in a Ford, literally went through 4 before I had one that worked. I'd chalk it up to cheap Chinese build houses. I refuse to buy anything electrical from advanced auto anymore. Multiple faulty products right out of the box.

I had the issue of a Standard electric oil sender reading 20 psi low, changed it twice I believe. I have found the BWD senders to be good.

What really sucks is now my Bonnewagon is having the same problem. But the sender on the 301 is a genuine AC Delco unit that has been in there for 15 years. Delco doesn't make it anymore and NOS is getting hard to find. I reluctantly ordered an Airtex unit because I don't have a Delco handy. We'll see what happens when I put it in. I REALLY need to clean up my garage and sort stuff!

Mark, take the sender unit off the 301 and let it soak in a bucket of diesel fuel over nite. It just may need to be flushed out

A friend who runs a shop refuses to use anything but dealer parts on these applications (and many others) for this exact reason.
