My dad was able to get the bike wrapped up for me while I'm away at college. It doesn't seem that the stator took out the voltage regulator, so far so good. While the bike was down I also found an NOS Harley-Davidson Mini Tach kit. I have been searching for this for a while, as I think its one of the cleaner options to mount a tach on a road king.
I got my new solo seat all installed. This is a Drag Specialties forward positioning solo seat. Compared to a 2010 and older Street Glide seat, this moves you around 1" down and forward. I was really surprised by how low this seat sits. It's not quite as forward as I was hoping, but I think I still like it. If you're looking for a plush cushy solo seat, this isn't it. I also ordered the matching fender bib. The idea was I'd put a solo seat on so I could use a tour pak I had as a rider backrest. This seat comes with a bracket with its own striker for mounting. This means that you need no tools to pop the seat on and off.
The seat isn't the best quality, but it's not bad for a sub $300 seat.
This seat is L O W
The bracket has an adjustable striker, so you can tighten this gap up.
Some modifications required on the fender bib, no big deal. Luckily this kit comes with a punch to make new holes in the leather.
Here are a couple shots of the NOS Mini-Tach kit I found on eBay.
