Didn't realize its been so long since I've updated this thread! Just been riding the bike honestly, no big changes. I did just put a new rear tire on it though. I stuck with the Pirelli Night Dragon. Its been a pretty awesome tire, but if you are looking for a tire with crazy tread life, this ain't it. I got about 9500 miles out of the rear, I think the front has another 1500-2000 miles left on it.

Today I went out and did some more slow speed practice. I got my U-Turns down to 17 feet!

My next project is another handlebar swap. I've test ridden 2 Road King specials and really like the handlebars on those bikes. They provide the mini ape look which I like on road kings, but the hand position is still nice and flat. I ended up finding a used set on eBay for $30 so I figured I'd give them a shot. I was worried my master cylinder wouldn't clear because these bars are not dimpled in that area, but lucky for me they do. I already had the 1.25" riser clamp, so that was not an issue. The only thing that may require modifications is adding another small hole for the wirings to pass through. On these special handlebars the wiring hole is on the front of the bars instead of the bottom. If I didn't have a 1 piece top riser clamp this wouldn't be an issue. I'm planning on having these chromed as well.

I also scored a used D&D Fat Cat exhaust on eBay for $300. I wasn't really planning on a new exhaust, but this was too good of a deal to pass up. I haven't seen one that has the muffler tip slash but on an angle towards the inside of the bike, so I was concerned if it was a knock off. I still need to get in touch with D&D to order some brackets and confirm if its genuine.

Oh sh*t. You'll be out buying an entire new Harley wardrobe. Gonna cost serious money. 🙂

I have some H-D gear, but I'm not into the full fringed leather costume for motorcycle riding.

I got on the phone with D&D today to order some brackets and ask a few questions about this exhaust. D&D is well known for their high quality and excellent performing 2-1 exhaust systems. It is a genuine D&D pipe, but it is a Boarzilla, not a Fat Cat. So I scored a $1200 exhaust for around $300! The Boarzilla is a pretty serious exhaust, way overkill for this mild 95” motor in my bike. It has a 1-7/8” to 2” stepped header, with a 2.5” muffler inlet. That’s bigger than the exhaust on my Cutlass!

I may throw it on just to see how it runs in the meantime. Eventually this exhaust will align with my big inch motor plans.

Your experience with Pirelli about matches mine with them on auto tires.

Had a k5 blazer come with a new set of their scorpion tires on it in the mid-2000s, and both my 2014 and 2016 mustangs came with the p zero nero as factory equipment.

They're nice enough for what they are, just have to keep realistic expectations on longevity.

(Honestly you have to figure the longevity of the Italian tires kinda matches the longevity of their vehicles, so, makes sense.)

To be honest I don't have any experience with their car tires. However, I think people freak out about motorcycle tire longevity in general. Its gotten to the point where people think putting car tires on their motorcycle is a good idea because they want more longevity. If I find a good performing tire that I trust, I don't really care how long it lasts. Car tires are a little bit of a different story. A motorcycle tire lives a pretty hard life in general.

Went out for some practice last weekend. Went decent, I need to work on consistency. I find myself constantly pulling myself up on the tank, which makes everything more difficult. Someone suggesting putting a set of chaps on the seat to push me forward, I'm gonna give that a shot.

I installed the Road King Special handlebars today, gonna head out for practice and a ride tomorrow to see how they feel. I'll probably ride around for a week or two and if I like them, then I'll get them chromed!

Just a couple quick shots of the handlebars. Initial impressions are good. Gonna try to put some miles on this week and then I'll know for sure. I did get some practice in Sunday also. What made the biggest difference is sitting on my rolled up jacket to push me forward and up. I don't love the way they look, but I feel like a cop seat is going to be the most comfortable for me. My arms were completely bent, and it was less of a stretch to the brake pedal and shifter. Felt really confidence inspiring as well.

After seeing this, I'm a little hesitant to install my D&D Exhaust.
