*ehem*

The biggest problem in car culture is caring too much about what other people are doing.

I used to love watching those auctions just to learn the history of certain models and such. That Steve Magnante guy knows a ridiculous amount about car history.
But I agree, it's just a bunch of people with more money than sense that feel the need to pay too muc for a super rare car just to say they own one.
The next question to ask is how long before that new-to-buyer car is off to the next auction?

The wonderful thing about your money is that you can do whatever you want with it. If you want to pay nearly a million dollars for an old Camaro, good for you. If, instead, you want to take that cash and give it to an evangelical pastor, a stripper or a children's hospital, good for you! Or maybe you want to buy a Richard Mille watch with that money. Yup, good for you. I'll stick to my POS 1985 Cutlass Supreme, which I love, and let everyone else do whatever they want. Good for me.

The Barrett is what it is and although you may not like what's happening they have your attention and that of a lot other people to the fact that they televise it. As TC said there is a lot good buys to be had - what you see on TV is the cream of the crop and there is a lot of cars that aren't televised that are good (reasonable) buys. It reminds me of televised drag racing - you see the big boys run and not the cars that interest me.
It is a rich mans play ground. There are a lot museums, private collectors, and investors who use it like a stock market. The Barrett has built a reputation the trouble is your paying for it.

The 4bd/3ba houses I want are listed for near that amount. The joys of living in AL/GA.
Thanks for commenting 120k buys a lot in Mississippi.. Doesn't mean it's ghetto BC of its price

Around Pittsburgh, $125,000 will buy you a small to medium sized house that needs remodeled in a decent neighborhood. Put $50,000 in it and you can flip it for $210,000. That's a big generalization, because you can be in Mount Washington and that house will sell for $600,000, meanwhile, if you are a few blocks down in Mount Oliver, you'd be out of your mind to sink $50,000 into a house there, but if you did, that same house might get $100,000 on the best damn real estate day in history.

Location, location, location.

Glad I grew up in Mt. Washington so I can think of myself of growing up in the good neighborhood, but when I grew up there you went to the shitty schools so my family made me go to Keystone Oaks for middle school on up since I almost went to a magnet school.

I've always seen first and last day as the best time to buy at any of the auctions because they plan on people not being there yet so have the cream of the crop fluffers going.

You know good living when you grew up on the North Side. 😀 I actually got to see the devalue of our neighborhood as I grew up. I think for $120K you could buy a good chunk of the area of Perrysville Ave & Marshal Rd.
