It seems there are many different manufacturers.

Which is best? Tell me why. I intend on painting it the same color as the firewall.

Thickness?

Which one to stay away from??

Thanks

I made one from a piece of 16 gauge cold rolled steel. Works great, cost about $20 and a couple of hours my time.

I made one from an industrial aluminum cookie sheet. Works great and it's light weight because race car!!
you say " industrial aluminum cookie sheet " does this mean there's industrial sized cookie's that we don't know about??

I modified the main case of a factory non ac unit because to me a flat piece of metal there looks out of place and unfinished IMO.

Thanks guys.

I just took the one that is on the car off. It measures about .030". Steel. Seemed sturdy enough, the Mallory coil was mounted on it.

I like the idea of unbolting it if needed. Racecar. Too get under the dash and behind glovebox.

I like the aluminum idea, but I don't know if I can find an industrial cookie sheet locally. And the weight savings, ehhhh, we throw all the weight we can in the trunk for added traction. Until I can get the boost by gear and/or traction control dialed in it goes faster at 3800 lbs than 3600 lbs lol. Traction is at a premium
