Bit more out there for most of the Forum but I have great respect for Kate Bush. At age 19, she had already composed thousands of songs and managed to hit the charts with Wuthering Heights. Improbable pop song, and she forged her own path past the record companies before it was common. She had an amazing range, more control over it than Mariah Carey. Not all her songs appeal to me, but if you have an open mind, check out the album Aerial. Not all her fans are rad fems...

Someone I remember my parents listening to when I was young and I have revisited recently and grown an appreciation for her voice was Karen Carpenter.
Too bad she died at such a young age.

Saw the Ronstant movie a couple of times lately. She definitely had one of the best voices and the most versatile at being able to sing whatever style she felt like. Didn't remember hearing before she was Mexican, not that that matters.
After that Eric church took halestorm on a leg of their tour!
