Here is the 91 Caprice setup I put on my 406 in the Malibu coupe. I used the fan and put a new Caprice fan clutch in there, plus a Summit reverse rotation high-flow water pump. The fan fit into the shroud with no problem. Notice on my setup, I have the bigger 12Si alternator, rather than the later, smaller one. Make sure you get the little adapter bracket with the aluminum block bracket on the driver's side, if you plan to run this alternator. I am not sure if I need to change the water neck to route the upper water hose around the front of the alternator or not.
Note: if you replace the power steering pump, you'll need a puller kit to get the pulley on/off. You'll need to install the pressure hose in the back before you bolt the pump into the bracket. If you are installing this in an 81 and earlier G-body and keeping your steering box, you can swap the outlet fitting at the base of the pump with the one early style (flare fittings, no o-ring) so your hoses will connect. Pull the one out of your old pump. They interchange no problem.
When you're pulling the grungy setup off a boneyard car BEWARE THE CASTING FLASH. Under the grime are little aluminum razor blades waiting to slice you to the bone!
If you will delete the smog pump, here is the idler you'll need: 10129569 Summit and Jegs sell them.
I also got the complete AC system, but it's been handled so many time, I don't trust the condenser tubing, so I put the compressor from another project in there for now. However, I'd like to know if anyone has tried to fit the condenser and hoses from a serpentine setup into their G-body. Looks like the Caprice setup would work, but my system still has R12 in it, and I'm hoping to somehow leverage the gas toward reuse in a reassembled system. The Malibu condenser has the hoses connect around the side of the radiator on the driver's side. The 91 Caprice and Camaro condensers connect around the passenger side of the radiator. The Caprice condenser looks like a better option because the tubing is at the top rather than in the middle of the side. Any advice?
