I am thinking of the future when I will likely upgrade my engine, and I was wondering what everyone thought was the best Small Block Chevy intake manifold in a dual plane configuration that accepts a Quadrajet without an adapter? The two I can think of are the Edelbrock Performer RPM Q-Jet and possibly the Wieand Stealth. If there is another option to consider, please post it for me.

As an addendum, what is the best set of 180cc-200cc aluminum heads for the money? The engine will still be centered around street driving and low RPM torque, but I tend to think there is more power available to me if I rethink the pizza delivery engine a bit more. ( I originally built this 355 to use while delivering pizza in my Cutlass, a task it is no longer used for regularly.)

I'm running an edelbrock sp2-p ....it's adds alot of low end torque but its not great over 3500 rpm

my AFR have been great to me, no problems at all.but for street driving id keep it around 180cc, regardless of which heads you run,

im using the performer rpm. I love it. i'll let you know more in a couple weeks with my new gears and TC

How is the hood clearance, and what carburetor and air filter are you using? I plan on upgrading it in the future (after everything else is done) and the RPM is on top of my list.

i always thought the rpm air-gap was the best. ive never used one though

yeah when i bought i i looked at it and thought sh*t, no way adding that height is it gonna fit. it does though. i have a quadrajunk and a standard size airfilter. i can check my hood clearance tomorrow when i go to work on my car. i know the stud sticks up an inch or so past my air filter and that doesn't hit though.

i wouldhave purchased that if money wasnt as tight at the time. i love the air gap. for intake temp it definitely makes sense.

I have run the performer RPM intake with SUPER AWESOME results! I was running 400 small blocks back then and making 450+ HP with that intake, a 750 or 800 AFB style carb, 1 3/4 headers and L98 heads.

High 12 second track times, too... 8)

Well, I will put a RPM on my shopping list then. I want to find a used one, and not an air gap. I would feel bad about grinding off the Edelbrock script and identifying markings from a new one and then painting it black to match the engine. A used one? Not so much. I figure it would still look stock to the casual observer, which runs along with my underhood stealth theme. Anyone for nitrous solenoids hidden in the A/C box? 😀
