Best truck for the buy rust or not, S10. Or the toyota/nissan/isuzu trucks from the 90s. They can be found almost rust free for under 3 grand.

Wow - be happy that fuel is temporarily under $2 a gallon....

For now, some research is required to find a competent aluminum metal smith not at the Audi dealer.

I wanted to keep the '88 V30, but more assembly was required than my wife was willing to wait for...

Apologies for 'jacking the thread...but, if you have something in mind that's older, some of us can keep an eye peeled for you.

After starting it I found I'm in violation of the thread rules. Should of not started a political debate lmfao.

If it were for "Me" farm fresh. I'd own anything turn key reliable. 4.9 Bronco's old 77-82 Scottsdale's.

But my wife is from the Yuppie suburbs. Then nobody can deny safety in a brand new body on frame truck. Small truck fully loaded got all the comfy crap on our 1100 mile yearly commute to the beach. Still can pull a boat. But not go into crazy $50k+ territory The full size easly dive to. Base model Tahoe Lt $49,990.

Your thread reminded me of a recent editorial in Super Chevy. Apparently you are not the only one lamenting the trajectory of the basic truck market. Today, all new cars seem to have a mandate to be protective entertainment cocoons.

Wife's 2004 Grand Cherokee is hitting the end of life. She stepped on the running board and it fell off. Rockers are just starting to rot.134,000 got lifter taps just not good enough for her and my daughter. We also wanted to buy a small 20 ft ski boat.

Toyota by far is what I wanted. The Jeep was the Limited , Leather ,sunroof every Bell and whistle. Which I'd like to keep them in.

Toyota Tacoma Limited is $41,000 ouch!
Nissan Frontier fully equipped is $36,000
Chevy Colorado Z71 was $38,900. No sunroof, get bent sales experience.

Not sure about going used. 5 years body rust sets in. Badly on the Silverado rocker cab corners. Ford the whole damn thing rusts out. Dodge my father has put the transmission shop owners kids through college.
Hate the process. But I do love Nissan's price/ power. Toyota the interior is Lexus like. All will pull 5k plus and have factory tow options. So what would you guys go for.

Btw my wife is 4'9" /105 lbs seeing her in a quad cab full size is hysterical. Her backing in a parking lot could be fatal.

If you are trying to get the best deal out of the bunch there is one option that is/but isn't listed. The Suzuki Equator is a Nissan Frontier that has been rebadged due to Suzuki no longer making vehicles in our market they can sometimes be found for a steal and the parts are steal the same as the Frontier so no worry on parts availability. 7-15k

Have you considered a commercial vehicle? I think a basic truck can still be had. If you order one with the LS2, you can keep the engine for your G-body down the road...

Don't know much about the Colorado micro-diesel, but it might balance the competing towing and mileage needs.
