One other thing, ditch the CCC. It wont work with the 350.

I am curious why you say this? If I keep all the sensors etc it should have basic functionality to where it can be tuned to work, no? Thanks for your input

OBD-1 was pretty forgiving of displacement. I remember back in the day when guys would slip a Chevy 350 or 400 in place of the 305 and kept all the OBD-1 sensors. It would pass the simple tailpipe sniffer tests OK but failed the IM-240 miserably. In NY there's no smog test anymore for anything before '96 so we have no reason to keep the computer other than a visual inspection ( and that's not happening by me). I'd say if you can get the computer to manage the 350 then use it, but if not it's easier to just back fit pre-CCC stuff. I do know that you can adjust the "non adjustable" idle screws on a CCC Q-jet for a smoother better idle. The computer will adapt to that.

Maybe where you are you need to keep the CCC for legality. I guess I've gotten spoiled here in NH. If it's over 20 years old, you don't need to run any emissions equipment. Hell, I don't even run cats. In my experience, on these cars it's simply another unnecessary headache.

I remember NYS emissions tests (I'm from eastern LI). I don't think I ever had a car in NY where the sniffer actually went in MY car's tailpipe!

I got a good look at the Buick V6 distributor and the 307 V8 Olds dist today.

I managed to "Frankenstein" the two and come up with a workable V8 Buick 350 EST CCC distributor.

I kept the Buick V6 dist casting.

The V6 distributor gear is the 14 tooth unit that the 350 needs. kept it with the V6 shaft.

I stole the magnetic pickup / tone ring from the V8 307 dist and installed it on the V6 shaft and casting. The Buick and Olds shafts were different so I had to press the "star" parts off and on, if you see what I mean.

All the electronics were otherwise identical.

The V8 307 cap and coil, rotor and wires all swapped right over.

On an aside, I am keeping the CCC not because I need to for legality but because I like it as a project.
Possibility of a power adder in the future - Nitrous if I keep the CCC. Turbo if I go NA
but its all just ideas right now.

"I managed to "Frankenstein" the two and come up with a workable V8 Buick 350 EST CCC distributor." That's what I like about GM, you can cobble up some crazy stuff. The only snag may be the PROM if the chip for the V-6 can't deal with the V-8. In the old days the stock chip was usually dumped for a "performance" V-8 version which may be hard to come by these days. It gave better acceleration with timing and mixture mods, yet WOT was not computer controlled anyway so you could play with the secondary rods all you wanted.

Alot of the GM starters are same main body with a different nose cone. I have also swapped between different starters. You may as well use your V6 starter. Very cool on the distributor. I have used that 307 CCC distributor to keep the TBI on my 4x4 with the Olds 350. The wire colours were even the same, just a different plug.

I had originally converted from V6 to V8 307 and chipped the 307 ECM

So I will be using the 307 ECM with Hypertech chip to run the 350

the V6 starter is not available.

Thanks for the nose cone tip though.

I think I have a "parts" Buick 350 or 455 starter on the shelf....Doctor Frankenstein may get some more work.....see if I can piece together the 307 starter and another nosecone. If not Ill just get a reman unit.
