Once a Marine always a Marine. That's what I am told. Thanks for your service. My son is starting his 3rd year at the Air Force Academy. I think you'll appreciate what I will write here.

When Cadets from West Point of Annapolis come to USAFA to study for a semester, they get teased pretty hard, of course. There is alot of rivalry between the services (as you know), but they know they are ultimately pieces of a puzzle and watch each others back. When a Navy or Army uniform personnel is at the Academy they do what they are supposed to do.

If and when a uniformed Marine is at the Air Force Academy, a Cadet will ask for the Marines hat, escort the Marine to their destination while carrying their hat. That is the ultimate sign of respect. Thought you'd appreciate that. No less than 4 of my son's friends have joined the Marines in the last 2 years.

By the way, Joel's engine is a balanced 4-bolt 350, .030 over. Stock heads, and headers. The engine builder said it would work great, and you know, it does. She's got torque to get that wagon going. Considering the 305 had 145hp and 200 lb. ft of torque, it is quite an improvement. I rebuilt everything the last 6 months; engine, 700R4, suspension, 104 amp alternator, distributor curved on a machine to match the cam, rear end (Tru Trac), alum. radiator ($190 off EBAY and is phenomenal). One of the best things I did was get a quck ratio steering box from Camaro (83-92) and bolted it in. WOW. Got the adapters for the box form CA. Now, 1/4 turn and around the corner.

The Marine "Experience" is certainly one you won't forget, especiallty Parris Island, SC in July and August! I had never heard the story about Marines at the AFA, but seems like they are well-respected. I am sure the "Grunts" feel honored.

Nice Car! Makes me wish mine was a wagon. I had my Plymouth Volare wagon for a long time. I posted it on Craig's List at a ridiculous price just "fishing". A Marine at Camp Lejeune e-mailed me and said he wanted it. He wanted something with performance, his wife wanted an older car, and they had a 5 year old son that was bound to a wheelchair and they needed something they could put it in. The wagon was perfect for them. I hated to sell it, but I DID list it and they DID need it, so, the outcome is history. I looked for a Chevy wagon, but all I could come up with in the "sleeper" catagory was this '81 Malibu 4 door. So, I bought it. My Plymouth had a mildly-built 360+.030, 650 DP Holley, 340 cam, true duals..........nice car.

My son took the wagon to a 1/4 mile track in Pueblo, CO. last Friday night (8/7). At 4700 elevation the car ran an adjust 14.7 and 92mph. He adjusted the timing himself and put .73 metering rods in the Eddy carb himself. Who knows what the timing is. First time he raced so I don't know if he used the stall on the convertor or just "nailed" it.

I thought that was excellent for a first time. I think that we'll get that down to the low 14's and the mid -high 90's with some work. Nice.

Very impressive! With a little tweaking here and there, it should do even better.
