I've done this swap in my '87.

All I did was swap my bucket seat tracks over to the '98 Trans-AM seats and they bolted right in.

over on malibu racing someone said that buckets and bench tracks are different....but now thats got me thinkin....

guy over on montecarloss.com said he had the same problem with his bench to bucket swap but then he said he got a pair of bucket tracks and worked just fine, so i think i might just test it out
I dunno about that...I had 60/40 spilt bench in my car and I put buckets in it and used the same tracks??? I'm thinking he had a full bench seat and not the split bench 8)
I'm the guy on MCSS.com and I'm sticking to my story. 8)
Below on the left is the split bench power track that came out of my '86 SS. The seat bolt holes measure 14.5" across. On the right is another track set measuring 13.5" across. This set is currently installed in my car with an '87 bucket seat bolted to it that would not fit the other track.
beenen didn't mention power tracks but it's clear he's running into the same problem I did.
It appears that not all split bench seats were created equal.
