Thanks. I didn't have any time left to keep messing with it. I was planning on just going around and backing them off a half turn. Think that should be fine? Or should I back them all the way and start over?

I think I would start over and readjust all the rockers. I would make sure the lifters haven't all bled down.

The book says one full turn from zero lash.

What Ive noticed is most write ups on adjusting valves are based on new lifters that arent full of oil yet. That isnt my case. I noticed the valve compressing as I did my full turn so I stopped and searched again, Then I found a write up that said this is normal and the lifter will bleed off so I ran with it. I guess he was wrong. One guy told me to use a feeler gauge and go with .001 and see how it runs. I've also heard 20 ft,lbs but I dont know if that was meant for a new uncharged lifters.
Amazing how many different ways there are to achieve the same thing. lol
I think Im going to try backing them all off and starting over using 1/4 turn from zero lash, see how it runs and check it once in a while to see if there getting loose again. I cant wait to just drop 6.0 in.
Thanks for all your help guys

since I posted incorrect info and you adjusted the valves by the book I would leave them and find out why it's not startinng

It sounds like there might be another reason why it doesn't start.

I thought of that but when it cranked I can kind of tell it had no compression or very low atleast. You know what ill do is ill do a compression test before i readjust them, then ill post a before and after.
