how much is that 454 going to cost you???....
Now that I'm not held to the constraints of the tbi truck application, probably gonna sell (too late to return) the RV cam and lifters/random TBI parts to recoup some money, on eBay there are 100cc closed chamber 781 heads all machined and assembled for $1000, then get shallow dish pistons for ~10:1, junkyard HEI with a curve kit, qjet, junkyard headers (saw some on the ground near a fence last time... If not Craigslist), decent cam (maybe a modern hydraulic version of the LS6/7 grind) and Craigslist intake. So I'm thinking about $5k. There are some Merlin BBC heads on Facebook...
It will be a long term project tho. I probably won't do much more than the short block this year. I still have my other SBB to build, then a potential truck, etc. And yknow, eventually a house.

If you get an F150 I'd pay to see that.
Its a toss up between a 75-78 150 or a 68-72 Chevy/GMC. Preferably 4wd but my regal did fine in winter with the 2" of snow we had at one point so I'm not above good tires and some sandbags.

This thread has quickly gone off the rails.

you are willing to spend $5,000.00 just in case you have a vehicle to use it sometime in the future??.....

Aint nothing wrong with preemptively building an engine I already have.

Not sure who is/was more stubborn, MrSony or the nissan drift guy with the regal

Hey Sony, why 75-78 on F150...dentsides were all pretty much the same from 73-79, except for that hideous 78/79 grille.

BTW, Dentsides are the best looking F series since the 53-55 slantcabs, and that includes the crap they're selling all the way up to now...IMO

I like the 75-78 grilles the best. 79 is ugly and it went downhill fast after that.
I dont particularly care for the 74 and older trucks but I wouldnt pass one up if it was a good deal.
Edit: not 100% sure when the 75 to 78 style grille started, you type in 74 f150 into Google images and it gives you everything except what you asked for.

:hijack:

Grilles are 73-75 76/77, and 78/79

Shells are the same 73-77 and 78/79

Grilles swap in the 73-77 shell, pick your favorites and go
