Houlie, the comment was not directed in your direction, but at the general idea of someone needing to pass a test to be a part of the group. (It almost sounds like you are a pledge joining a biker gang or something...:lol🙂 Seriously though, knock off the crap everyone. This board requires little of anyone to be accepted, and that is the way we like it. If you cannot behave by our normal rules of expected civility, or are THAT thin skinned, this may not be the forum for you. This is not the place for some sort of stupid E-Turf war, and that goes for everyone. Everyone is welcome here unless they become excessively abusive or love to post nothing but spam.

TURNA, I will also say that if they wish to have their club, by all means let them. There is nothing that says you MUST join them because of the car you own. If they want to have their rules and such, let them. There is no reason to have a chip on your shoulder about it, and you are free to form your own group that is not subject to their rules if you wish. They are free to do what they wish. That is how a free society works.

As for my opinion, I agree with TURNA in principle, but would probably have worded it better. I tend not to like elitist groups who only promote their own narrow minded set of ideas. To me, a G body is a G body. No matter what emblems GM glued to the car when it was new, they are all the same damn car technically. Will I be going to this get together? No. I can't even afford to put enough gas in my car to go to a local cruise night, let alone drive to Pennsylvania. However, I would go if it was in my back yard. So long as I was not stuck with a bunch of elitists, be they into G bodies or Toyotas, I could have fun. It's supposed to be a hobby, so don't take it (or yourself) so seriously! 😀

I may be wrong, but my understanding is that basically these cars are all placed fairly close if not together anyway. I've never been, but I am currently trying to figure a way to get there next year.

Tuggy, sorry, but I have been a member here for a bit and saw the post on the other forum which I also frequent.
Knowing what you were trying to accomplish which was a good idea, I did see a major problems in using a car show such as Carlisle and a location all ready being planned for another event. It just wasn't going to work as you would have hoped.

85 Cutlass, I had no idea this site which they don't use for whatever reason was being spied and they would either reactivate long forgotten accounts or just plain sign up to make it a E-Turf war as you said.

But I whole heartily agree and have stated before, were all car guys and G-Body guys at heart so that is what is suppose to bring us together and make it fun, but that isn't always the case, should be, but isn't!!!!!

I will also say that if there are others out there who are having literal turf wars over where and when people who own a specific car that are not a part of their group can meet, that is sad and pathetic. I can see having a club specific meeting somewhere, but disallowing others at larger events because it's "Your Turf" is flat out stupid. Yes, don't let them join your marked off area at an event if you don't want, but it's nothing to fight over. It's a pretty trivial matter to get all worked up over if this is what is happening. Again, I have not lived in the tri state area for about 20 years, and all I have to go on is what is being written here, but from the sounds of things this is just silly. Anyhow, keep it off that topic, and keep it on the topic of a meeting somewhere.

OK, Tuggy, lets do this.

First find out whom it really interested with the meeting place to be determined.
To determine a place, those whom could be interested, which should number more not being pre placed, should also add there location. Pick would be centered within the area provided.
Hotel arrangements are no big deal, easily done and with a certain number you can get very good discounts.
As fas as the rest of the stuff one could plan, local clubs can be easily found and talked too, maybe even someone that decides to go lived very near there and could offer ideas for parks for a picnic, local drag strip to use or a cruise event.

Tuggy,

How is your response from other forums and your local area about Carlisle? I live close to Carlisle and would be willing to help out when(if) the time came.
