Anyone know what product to use to recolor a rubber horn button. I found a co. in Toronto called Parasol Inc that makes a rubber bond product. Not sure what to go with. Anyone else done this?

Try PPG's Specialty Performance Products line. They can match your interior color code. I used it to match my code 77 Dark Maple on the 4 spoke wheel & horn cap, kick panels, a now spare pair of upper door panels. Here is a pick of my wheel.

Matching the color isn't my issue, it's adhesion to the rubber substrate. SEM won't guarantee adhesion. I'll check PPG's site and see. Thanks for the tip.

Anyone painted "dyed" rubber parts?

I did a console cover and a single armrest for my friends Camaro with SEM on top of Bulldog Adhesion Promoter and so far its held up. Its been a couple of years.
One thing I will say is the armrest was painted with a lacquer based paint 20+ years ago and my friend used a plastic safe paint stripper on it. The day I sprayed it the color matched 100%. Two weeks later the color was a little "off". The tech guy at SEM said rubber is somewhat porous and the stripper probably soaked into it and changed the color as it was drying out.
I would just be really careful with what you use to prep it. Maybe something alcohol based.
The console lid was new. No issues with that at all.

I saw somewhere that someone used Plasti Dip for coating rubber. I hadn't thought of that. They make a kit where you can blend your own color. I might give that a try.

Never hand an issue with SEM rattle can on my armrests.

Never used any type of adhesive prep or promoter

Just Dawn dish soap and water let it dry in the sun and when it is dry and nice warm spray away.

I'm right with you there, but I'm not talking about vinyl arm rests or plastic pieces,

I'm trying to color the horn button from a 1978 steering wheel. It is 100% rubber. SEM over the phone said their product will not adhere to rubber. I'm looking for an answer to covering a rubber part and have it stay. As stated above I found a company in Canada that will do that, but to get a custom color I have to buy 6 cans at $30 each. To cover a part the size of my fist is pricey, so I'm looking to see if anyone has dyed a 100% rubber part and had it work.
