Actually JUST got a call from the shop and the engine is done and ready to be picked up! I will get it tomorrow morning and hopefully be driving the car again by Sunday afternoon if all goes well 8)

Here is a rundown of what I had done...

Disassemble the engine
Hot tank for cleaning / degreasing
Mag the block ( check for any cracks )
Decked the head gasket surface, just enough to clean it up
Polished the crankshaft
Fully balanced the rotating assembly
New cam bearings, rod bearings, main bearings, and rings
New oil pump and pickup
New brass soft plugs
Honed the cylinders
Comp Cams 280H cam installed
ARP rod bolts installed
Rods resized after ARP rod bolts installed
All Fel Pro gaskets
I also had them completely assemble the short block for me

Total cost, including break in oil ( Valvoline VR-1 10w30 race oil ) oil to actually run ( Valvoline VR-1 20w50 race oil ) a couple filters, trans fluid / filter, and the TransGo Performance shift kit comes to about $1,700

The builder told me I should be right about 9.5:1 compression and between 350 and 375 hp. I then ran some numbers on the Comp Cams Camquest program and came up with 370 hp and 440 ft. lbs. Oh yeah..... it's gonna be a fun car to drive

The engine actually already had a 280H cam in it ( SO happy I didn't go with a smaller cam! ) when I bought it, but didn't know until a couple days ago. It had the same pistons in the pic above, but had a set of 462624 heads on it, that are basically garbage for any kind of performance. I took it to the drag strip and ran a 14.33 with it before I wiped out the cam and lifters, I also had no vacuum problems at all.

I loved the way it sounded, nice choppy idle, but nothing too crazy.

Here is a video of the car when I first bought it
