I would go down to a local reputable machinist. Their advice is often priceless and you might be surprised what they have sitting in the corner of the shop sometimes

Looks like a good street engine for the price. Even though I have heard nothing bad about hypereutectic pistons and powder rods so im not sure id push it more.

the GM performance engines like the 602 and 604 crates both use the powdered metal connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons. We ran a 602 for 4 seasons with no issues and running a 6300 chip. We have a 604 in our sportsman now and no problems last season with the 6300 chip. One nice upgrade on that engine would be vortec heads.

That's what got me hooked, no core charge, shipping included to your door and a decent amount of hp and torque, also a 3ytr unlimited mile warranty

I've used ATK remans for stock replacement stuff in the past. No problems to speak of.
